Tour Guide
Barbara
I look forward to sharing my passion for alpacas with you. I first fell in love with these beautiful animals in the year 2000 on a family vacation. We purchased 4 within the first week of seeing them for the first time and now have a herd of 36. We run a full service alpaca ranch, breeding and selling alpacas, offering champion stud services and shearing services to our clients. We also own and operate a fiber mill which we started in 2003 where we process the fiber from our own alpacas as well as the fiber from clients across the country with fiber animals. We feel blessed to do what we love for a living and be able to share our passion with others.
What we'll do
Take a break from the hectic pace of life, back to "A Simpler Time" where you can unplug and de-stress enjoying the peaceful country setting and gentle ways of the alpaca.
I will meet you in the driveway,
along with our "greeter" dogs Max and Molly,
and guide you down the country road to the where you will meet the alpacas.
Alpacas are very gentle animals and you will have the opportunity to go in with them to hand feed grain and take pictures with them. Meanwhile you will learn about the care of the alpacas, what they like and don't like and have an opportunity to get your questions answered.
Next, we will make our way over to the barn which houses our fiber mill where you will see the process of how to make yarn from the fiber we collect after shearing the alpacas.
We will wrap up our tour in our ranch store where you will have time to shop for items made from the luxuriously soft alpaca fiber, aka "the affordable cashmere".
Plan on an hour or an hour and a half depending on the size of the group. All ages are welcome, children under 2 are free.
Where we'll be
On this experience you will have private access to our family owned and operated alpaca ranch and fiber mill, a 4 acre ranch located in the hills of El Cajon just 30 minutes east of San Diego, CA
